I had an appointment at Familia Dental Clinic on October 1 at 11:00 with Max Matchenko. The day before, I was informed that he was ill and that another dentist would see me instead. First of all, I want to make it very clear that I have absolutely no complaints about Max Matchenko. I know him personally — he is my sister’s friend’s husband — so I trust him both as a person and as a professional. I specifically booked an appointment with him. This review concerns only the dentist who replaced him. I currently live in Scotland, where dental treatment is very expensive for me and access to the treatment I need is difficult. I therefore came to Ukraine with a very specific goal: to have several areas of tooth decay treated before my departure. These areas had already been identified and shown to me during a professional dental cleaning at another clinic. Instead of first discussing these specific teeth, the dentist almost immediately insisted that I have a CT scan. I explained that my previous dentist had already examined me and identified the areas that needed treatment, but she insisted on the CT scan, which I eventually had. After that, I was told that, in her opinion, the decay I had come in to treat was not the main issue. Instead, the discussion shifted to tooth wear, my bite, and the need for crowns on my lower teeth. I asked her to put in writing exactly what problems she had identified, which teeth she believed needed crowns, and why this treatment was necessary, because I wanted to obtain a second opinion before agreeing to major and expensive dental work. She declined to provide the information in the form I requested and offered only a treatment plan. At that point, I completely lost confidence in this particular dentist. I am not claiming that her medical opinion is necessarily incorrect, but I believe it is completely reasonable for a patient to want a clear written explanation before agreeing to significant and expensive treatment. I ultimately left without having the teeth I originally came to treat addressed, and I was very disappointed, especially because I had only about ten days left before leaving Ukraine. I also want to mention that I received several phone calls from the clinic after my appointment, although I had not asked to be contacted repeatedly. This review is not about Max Matchenko. I continue to have trust and respect for him. My negative experience relates exclusively to the dentist who saw me instead of him on October 1.

She found an approach to my children, who were very afraid of dentists. The children completely trust the doctor, feel safe, calm, and comfortable at the appointment. Irina Vasylivna explains in detail what procedures are performed, how to care for the teeth, what is the further plan of visits, what needs to be done to keep the teeth healthy. Everything is clear and accessible. Communication with children is very important. Irina Vasylivna knows the preferences of children, knows how to support, explain, and reassure. Dental assistant Snezhana is very attentive to children. Helps make the visit comfortable. We are very grateful to Irina Vasylivna and Snezhana for our healthy teeth.
